HKT-SS Reportedly Agrees to Terminate Relevant US Operations, Says Consensus Forged w/ US
2026-11-02 08:58:55 HKT-SS (06823.HK), a unit of PCCW (00008.HK), has agreed to terminate its international and domestic telecommunications services in the US under pressure from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), sources divulged. HKT-SS must submit an application to terminate the relevant services to the FCC within 30 days and cease providing international and domestic telecommunications services within the US by September 1, 2027, while the US will no longer proceed with the revocation of its operating license. HKT-SS confirmed that it has forged a consensus with US authorities, which have also terminated the "Order to Show Cause" issued in October 2025. The company said it will continue to fully comply with all appropriate regulatory requirements and provide services and support to customers. The FCC announced in October 2025 that it had planned to revoke the US operating authorization of HKT-SS and its subsidiaries on national security grounds.
