2026-10-12 16:38:46 The HSI opened up 223 pts before narrowing its gains gradually. The market briefly turned south in the afternoon before fluctuating. The HSI closed at 24,271, up 59 pts or 0.25%, with main board turnover totaling HKD162.632 billion. The HSCEI closed at 8,168, up 20 pts or 0.25%. The HSTECH remained under pressure, closing at 4,169, down 28 pts or 0.67%. Among major tech heavyweights, XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) plunged 5.55%; BABA-W (09988.HK) added 1.12%; TENCENT (00700.HK) gained 0.24% as the group planned to issue notes under its global medium-term note programme; JD-SW (09618.HK) and NTES (09999.HK) climbed more than 2%. PCB-related stocks came under pressure. KB LAMINATES (01888.HK) slumped 4.49%; KINGBOARD HLDG (00148.HK) cratered 3.14%; DELTON (01989.HK) forecast its net profit for 1-3Q to more than double to as much as RMB1.5 billion, but still closed down 8.51%; VGT (02476.HK) dived 3.32%; KINWONG (03228.HK) plummeted 10.44%; and HANS CNC (03200.HK) collapsed 9.01%. Optical communication concept stocks also waned, with ZJ INNOLIGHT (03308.HK) down 7.34%, YOFC (06869.HK) down 7.25%, and CIG (06166.HK) down 11.44%. Hong Kong-listed chip makers bucked the market trend and moved lower. SMIC (00981.HK) slid 2.52%; HUA HONG GRACE (01347.HK) tumbled nearly 5%; and MONTAGE TECH (06809.HK) declined 5%. South Korea's KOSPI closed down 3.65%. In Hong Kong, XL2CSOPHYNIX (07709.HK) nosedived 10.11%, while XL2CSOPSMSN (07747.HK) cascaded 7.75%. Among blue chips, LAOPU GOLD (06181.HK) was the worst performer of the day, plunging 7.89% after Citi cut its TP and forecast weaker third-quarter net profit. CHOW TAI FOOK (01929.HK) fell off 4.11%; SUNNY OPTICAL (02382.HK) shrank 2.81%; LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) slipped 1.52%; while OOIL (00316.HK) soared 4.38%. Banks had a good run. HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) leaped 2% to HKD148.1; STANCHART (02888.HK) gained 1.54%; CM BANK (03968.HK) elevated 3.07%; CITIC BANK (00998.HK), ABC (01288.HK) and BANK OF CHINA (03988.HK) all mounted more than 2%; while CCB (00939.HK) closed up 1.8% at HKD9.91, marking a record closing high.
