CN MOC Opposes Individual Countries Using 'Overcapacity' as Pretext for Trade Protectionism
2026-10-12 10:49:27 Regarding the ministerial joint statement issued by the US with certain economies on addressing the so-called issue of "structural excess capacity and overproduction", a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce said China took note the situation. China repeatedly clarified its views on the so-called "overcapacity" issue on different occasions and specifically released a position paper on the matter in July this year. China consistently believed that capacity issues should be viewed in a comprehensive, objective and fair manner, and that economic and trade issues should not be politicized due to concerns over industrial competitiveness and market position. China opposes certain countries using the so-called "overcapacity" issue as a pretext for trade protectionism, which would only disrupt the global economic and trade order as well as the stability of industrial and supply chains, bringing long-term risks to global economic growth. If relevant economies use this as an excuse in the future to adopt measures that harm China's interests, China will make necessary responses. ~ AASTOCKS Financial News Website: www.aastocks.com | |
