PIMCO: US 10Y Treasury Yield May Rise to 6% for First Time Since 2000
2026-10-09 14:55:39
PIMCO Investment Chief Dan Ivascyn said the yield on the 10-year US Treasury note may reach 6% for the first time since 2000 owing to concerns that high oil prices could worsen inflation and rising US public debt.

The 10-year US Treasury yield has grossed an increment of nearly 120 bps YTD. The yield was lately below last week's peak of 5.34%, last reported at 5.23%. Ivascyn said a further sharp rise in yields from current levels is possible in the short term as hedge funds may unwind loss-making bond positions.

If Treasury yields drift higher, it could weigh on higher-risk assets such as equities and corporate bonds. When yields elevate to 5.5% or higher, risk asset markets including credit and equities may weaken notably.
