2026-10-05 12:16:05 After recently discussing industry trends with two short drama producers, Nomura found that AI-generated short dramas (AGSD) are evolving from a low-cost content production model into a more professional and quality-oriented ecosystem. Production costs and capital thresholds for each AGSD project are markedly lower, accelerating the replacement of low-end live-action short dramas. The broker expected structural cost advantages and continued improvement in AI video quality to continue supporting rapid growth in the AGSD industry. Nomura noted that the surge in AGSD supply over the past year has prompted major platforms to raise quality thresholds and crack down on low-quality content. Industry competition is increasingly shifting toward higher-quality IP, talent and production capabilities. Industry experts believed ByteDance holds a dominant position in China's AI short drama value chain. Upstream, it covers the AI video generation tool Seedance, while downstream distribution is conducted through Douyin and Hongguo. Seedance is estimated to be used in 80-90% of AI short drama production processes. Its main drawback is relatively high pricing, carrying a premium compared with Kling of KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) and Wanxiang of BABA-W (09988.HK). Given low switching costs, challengers still have room to compete. ~ AASTOCKS Financial News Website: www.aastocks.com | |
