TSMC Affiliate Plans to Build 2nd New Chip Plant in Singapore

VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (VSMC), a joint venture between TSMC (TSM.US)'s affiliate Vanguard International Semiconductor and Dutch company NXP Semiconductors, is considering building a second chip plant in Singapore, Chinese news broke.

Vanguard International Semiconductor and VSMC Chairman Leuh Fang said the new plant could produce more advanced chips than the company's first Singapore plant.

However, he did not disclose the budget, saying it was still too early to discuss the budget because the company has not yet decided which technology to adopt.
