Main board turnover for the day reached HKD177.482 billion. The HSCEI closed at 8,216, up 51 pts or 0.63%, while the HSTECH dipped 15 pts or 0.37% to close at 4,296. Major techs traded mixed. NTES (09999.HK) outshone, closing up 4.86% as the best-performing blue chip. TENCENT (00700.HK) inched up 0.73%, while BABA-W (09988.HK) sank 0.65% and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) faded 0.15%. Optical communication concept stocks came under pressure after a US senator proposed legislation related to optical modules, listing ZJ INNOLIGHT (03308.HK) and Eoptolink as restricted suppliers. ZJ INNOLIGHT closed at the day's trough, plunging 12.21% to HKD1,028. YOFC (06869.HK) tumbled 16.62%, while CIG (06166.HK) nosedived 11.93%. Following price cuts by several large-model developers in September, Hong Kong-listed large-model stocks subtracted. MINIMAX-W (00100.HK) cascaded 9.08%, Z.AI (02513.HK) cratered 1.82%, and XUNCE (03317.HK) tumbled 7.18%. Chip stocks were pressured by reports that China may allow companies such as Alibaba to purchase high-end chips from NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US). HUA HONG GRACE (01347.HK) fell off 4.62%, making it the worst-performing blue chip. SMIC (00981.HK) crashed 3.63%, MONTAGE TECH (06809.HK) stumbled 5.12%, ILUVATAR COREX (09903.HK) slumped 11.37%, and GIGADEVICE (03986.HK) plunged 7.2%. After US President Donald Trump turned down Iran's ceasefire proposal, oil prices advanced, shoring up China's three oils. PETROCHINA (00857.HK) shot up 3.08%, CNOOC (00883.HK) hiked 1.2%, and SINOPEC CORP (00386.HK) added 1.69%. Concerns that elevated oil prices may force the Fed to further raise interest rates pushed spot gold down more than 3%.
