EU Energy Commissioner Urges US Not to Ban Diesel Exports, Expects EU Energy Prices to Be Extremely High This Winter

EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen urged the US government not to impose a diesel ban after US President Donald Trump backed a prohibition on diesel exports, triggering market volatility as European diesel prices approached historical highs.

Jorgensen said energy should flow as freely as possible between the US and Europe, which is in the common interest of both sides. Even if there is no disruption to US diesel supply, this winter could still be extremely challenging for Europe and may become one of the toughest winters since 2022.
