2026-09-25 10:14:54 International oil prices descended on Friday (25th) after reports said US and Iranian negotiators discussed a phased agreement in New York to end tensions in the Persian Gulf. New York oil futures for November delivery last sank 1.6% at USD93.13 per barrel. Brent oil futures were down 0.8% at USD105.73 per barrel. The most feasible solution would be for Tehran to allow vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the US lifting its maritime blockade, Reuters cited a senior Iranian official as saying. The US and Iran had agreed to the proposal in a memorandum of understanding on June 17, but the agreement later quickly collapsed and conflict resumed. It remains unclear how the current negotiations differ from those at the time. Iran hopes the US will return to the memorandum of understanding before the US midterm elections, according to Al Jazeera. The report cited Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian speaking to media on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. ~ AASTOCKS Financial News Website: www.aastocks.com | |
