2026-09-25 09:39:50 The three major US stock indices were in a mixed bag overnight (24th). Uncertainty surrounding the Middle East situation shored up oil prices, while US Treasury yields elevated to multi-year highs. The Xi-Trump meeting this morning (25th) failed to boost Hong Kong stocks. The HSI opened at 24,523, down 237 pts or 0.96%; the HSTECH opened at 4,318, down 42 pts or 0.99%; and the HSCEI opened at 8,172, down 93 pts or 1.13%. Major techs broadly waned. TENCENT (00700.HK) faded 1.05%; BABA-W (09988.HK) slumped 2.27%; JD-SW (09618.HK) dropped 1.71%; XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) declined 1.51%; while MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and BIDU-W (09888.HK) opened down by less than 1%. Financials also headed south with the broader market. ICBC (01398.HK) opened down 2.09%; AIA (01299.HK) fell nearly 1%; CM BANK (03968.HK), CCB (00939.HK) and PING AN (02318.HK) all opened down more than 1%. CHINA LIFE (02628.HK) sank 1.36%. The company will invest a total of RMB6.5 billion together with multiple enterprises in industries including biomedicine, artificial intelligence and semiconductors. Among blue chips, ZTO EXPRESS-W (02057.HK) shed 2.75%; BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) lost 1.89%; and LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) lowered 0.33%.
