2026-09-18 16:55:36 The Bank of Japan raised interest rates by 25 bps as expected, with Japanese stocks closing up 1.4%. Hong Kong bourse snapped the previous session's downswing. The HSI opened up 119 pts or 0.5% this morning (18th) at 24,723, and later soared as much as 258 pts to an intraday high of 24,862. The HSI finished the day at 24,750, rebounding 146 pts or 0.6%, with full-day turnover of HKD266.513 billion. The HSCEI closed at 8,225, up 50 pts or 0.61%. The HSTECH closed at 4,405, up 94 pts or 2.2%. Major techs were in a mixed bag. BABA-W (09988.HK) settled at HKD135.20, up 3.996%, after Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining met with Alibaba Co-Founder Joe Tsai and other representatives attending the Asia Business Council's industry dialogue event yesterday. LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) closed at a record high of HKD37.58, surging 9.5%. Morgan Stanley cited Lenovo management as expecting continued acceleration in ISG business revenue and maintained an Overweight rating despite a potential slowdown in PC demand in 2H26. TENCENT (00700.HK) closed at HKD419, down 1.643%, while MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) edged up 0.412%. Among blue chips and key sectors, chip and hardware-related stocks strengthened alongside overseas markets. SMIC (00981.HK) shot up 4.407%, while HUA HONG GRACE (01347.HK) surged 4.809%. AI model-related stocks were in demand. XUNCE (03317.HK) advanced 3.69% after proposing cooperation with a Shanghai state-owned capital fund to explore development of AI and token-native investment portfolio ecosystems. Peer MINIMAX-W (00100.HK) swelled 18.92%, while Z.AI (02513.HK) elevated 5.41% and SENSETIME-W (00020.HK) shot up 5.81%. China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development said selling completed homes is an inevitable trend. The next step is to support the use of housing provident funds for renting, home purchases/ renovation and property maintenance. Chinese property developers generally thrived, with LONGFOR GROUP (00960.HK) up 3.9%, CHINA OVERSEAS (00688.HK) up 2%, and CHINA RES LAND (01109.HK) up 0.5%. CHINA RES MIXC (01209.HK) rose 0.9%. Meanwhile, SUNAC (01918.HK) leaped 9.9%, CHINA VANKE (02202.HK) mushroomed 6.8%, SEAZEN (01030.HK) skyrocketed 5.3%, while C&D INTL GROUP (01908.HK), CHINA JINMAO (00817.HK), YUEXIU PROPERTY (00123.HK) and GREENTOWN CHINA (03900.HK) mounted 3-4.2%.
