At the half-day close, the HSI stood at 24,768, up 164 pts or 0.67%, with half-day turnover at HKD106.984 billion. The HSTECH closed the half day at 4,385, up 75 pts or 1.74%, while the HSCEI closed at 8,216, up 41 pts or 0.51%. Mega dotcoms traded mixed at midday. BABA-W (09988.HK) thrived, closing up 3.616%, after Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining met with Alibaba co-founder Joseph Tsai and other members of the Asia Business Council participating in an industry dialogue event yesterday. BIDU-W (09888.HK) rose 1.774%; KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) and MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) gained 1.603% and 0.412% respectively; XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) edged up 0.230%; JD-SW (09618.HK) was flat; TENCENT (00700.HK) edged down 0.141%; while NTES (09999.HK) fell 1.08%. In addition, LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) spiked 7.459% to close the half day at a record high of HKD36.88. Morgan Stanley cited management as expecting continued acceleration in revenue growth for its ISG business and maintained an Overweight rating despite anticipated slower PC demand growth in 2H26. Among blue chips and key sectors, chip and hardware-related stocks strengthened in line with overseas markets. SMIC (00981.HK) closed up 4.647%, while HUA HONG GRACE (01347.HK) soared 6.261%. Semiconductor and AI-related concept stocks broadly advanced, with GIGADEVICE (03986.HK) up 7.27%; ILUVATAR COREX (09903.HK) up 13.55%; MONTAGE TECH (06809.HK) up 6.13%; XL2CSOPHYNIX (07709.HK) up 9.57%; and XL2CSOPSMSN (07747.HK) up 5.31%. Major local financials broadly rallied. HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) hiked 1.9% at midday, BOC HONG KONG (02388.HK) inched up 0.4%, and STANCHART (02888.HK) elevated 1.7%. HKEX (00388.HK) edged up 0.6%, while AIA (01299.HK) dipped 0.3%. CHINA LIFE (02628.HK) mounted 3.2%. Chinese banks softened, with BANK OF CHINA (03988.HK), ICBC (01398.HK), CCB (00939.HK) and ABC (01288.HK) sinking 0.2-0.7% at midday. AI model stocks were sought after. XUNCE (03317.HK) proposed cooperating with a Shanghai state-owned capital fund to explore development of an AI and token-native investment portfolio ecosystem, and swelled 4.5%. Peer MINIMAX-W (00100.HK) jumped up 13.34%, while Z.AI (02513.HK) surged 6.42%. SENSETIME-W (00020.HK) leaped 3.3%. Optical communication concept stocks were mixed at midday.
