Intl Oil Prices Stretch Upswing as Houthis Attack Saudi Arabia
2026-09-15 10:19:44
Oil prices extended gains on Tuesday (15th), as the market focused on renewed attacks on Saudi Arabia by Houthis and reports of Iranian attacks on vessels in the Gulf region.

International benchmark Brent oil futures for November delivery grew 1.25% to USD107 per barrel. US West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures for October delivery climbed 1.27% to USD102.68 per barrel.

Saudi Arabia shut down the key East-West oil pipeline that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz after drones launched from Iraq damaged the pipeline, exacerbating disruptions to oil supplies at a time when market supply was already tight.

Al Jazeera reported that the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said 13 civilians were injured on Monday (14th) after Houthis launched a series of ballistic missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, the Iranian military said it had destroyed an advanced US drone over the Strait after Tehran conducted a series of operations targeting US unmanned naval systems. US President Donald Trump said last Sunday (13th) that the US may continue taking action against Iran and control its oil.
