2026-09-04 09:37:05 US stocks' three major indices finished more than 1% higher after Federal Reserve Chair Christopher Waller supported keeping interest rates unchanged. This morning (4th), the HSI opened at 25,515, up 302 pts or 1.2%; the HSTECH opened at 4,533, up 65 pts or 1.46%; and the HSCEI opened at 8,481, up 96 pts or 1.15%. Major dotcoms had a good run. TENCENT (00700.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK) and BIDU-W (09888.HK) opened more than 2% higher; BABA-W (09988.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) added more than 1%; and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) gained 0.88%. Comments from Fed officials relieved concerns over rate hikes, lifting gold mining and gold jewelry stocks. ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) and ZIJIN GOLD INTL (02259.HK) opened more than 4% higher; LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK) and SD GOLD (01787.HK) jumped up more than 2%; LAOPU GOLD (06181.HK) soared 2.39%; CHOW TAI FOOK (01929.HK) inched up 0.75%.
