HSI Gains 184 Pts at Midday; BABA-W and POP MART Each Dive 3% Post-results; PING AN Soars 3%+; HENDERSON LAND Leaps 6%+

This morning (21st), the HSI opened up 109 pts and closed midday at 25,883, up 184 pts or 0.72%, with half-day main board turnover at HKD135.973 billion. The HSCEI settled at 8,589, up 41 pts or 0.48%. The HSTECH concluded at 4,724, up 23 pts or 0.5%.

Among heavyweight techs, BABA-W (09988.HK) logged adjusted net profit for its 1FQ, missing forecast. Although several brokers upgraded the stock, its share price reversed course after opening higher and slid 3.09% by midday. NTES (09999.HK) rallied 2.22% on strong gaming business in 2Q26. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) soared 3.24%, while TENCENT (00700.HK) dipped 0.8% and MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) slid 2.3%.

Several blue chips announced quarterly results. POP MART (09992.HK) dived 3.06% after results after JPMorgan downgraded the stock to Underweight. LI NING (02331.HK) reversed earlier gains to fall 0.8% after lowering its full-year revenue growth target to low single-digit growth. HENDERSON LAND (00012.HK) reported over 66% growth in interim underlying profit, beating expectations, and the stock leaped 6.32%, making it the best-performing blue chip. Citi and UBS said CHINA TELECOM (00728.HK)'s 2Q net profit beat, shoring up its shares by 2.01%.

Chinese insurers moved higher. PING AN (02318.HK) spiked 3.6% after results, CHINA LIFE (02628.HK) rallied 4.79%, PICC P&C (02328.HK) climbed 3.54%, and CPIC (02601.HK) swelled 3.65%.
