2026-08-13 09:37:28 US bourse traded mixed overnight (12th). Latest US inflation data was moderate, prompting the market to scale back expectations for a Fed rate hike next month. The DJIA edged down 21 points or less than 0.1%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq added about 0.3% and 0.5%, respectively. This morning (13th), the HSI opened at 25,288, down 152 points or 0.6%; the HSTECH opened at 4,762, down 13 points or 0.29%; and the HSCEI opened at 8,400, down 45 points or 0.54%. Major techs generally traded lower. TENCENT (00700.HK) opened down 3.3% after the group's 2Q26 capex surged to nearly RMB52.8 billion, topping expectations. The group said that if capex continues to rise, it may pare back the scale of share buybacks. BABA-W (09988.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and JD-SW (09618.HK) opened down more than 1%; XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) opened down nearly 1%; while BIDU-SW (09888.HK) bucked the trend and opened 0.5% higher.
