At midday, it concluded at 25,853, up 185 pts or 0.72%, with turnover of HKD140.799 billion. The HSTECH closed at 4,876, up 17 pts or 0.37%, while the HSCEI finished at 8,587, up 56 pts or 0.66%. Dotcom bellwethers were mixed. BABA-W (09988.HK) jumped up 2.1%; XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) and MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) gained less than 1%; while TENCENT (00700.HK) edged down 0.08%. After a US court preliminarily barred the Department of Defense from placing WUXI APPTEC (02359.HK) on the list of Chinese military companies, brokers expected the move to remove short-term uncertainties. Biotech and pharmaceutical stocks broadly advanced. WUXI APPTEC (02359.HK) rallied 2.86%; WUXI BIO (02269.HK) rose 1.22%; WUXI XDC (02268.HK) swelled 2.02%. INNOVENT BIO (01801.HK) surged 3.11%; BEONE MEDICINES (06160.HK) mounted 2.67%; and HANSOH PHARMA (03692.HK) advanced 2.37%. Beijing unwound property market policies, and CLSA expected the housing market to bottom out faster. Chinese property stocks moved higher. YUEXIU PROPERTY (00123.HK), named a top pick by CLSA, escalated 3.14%; COUNTRY GARDEN (02007.HK) soared 8.99%; SHIMAO GROUP (00813.HK) shot up 7.35%; SUNAC (01918.HK) skyrocketed 4.31%; and CHINA JINMAO (00817.HK) mushroomed 3.72%.
