2026-08-07 15:42:31 The Democratic Republic of the Congo announced an export ban on copper concentrate and cobalt concentrate, JPMorgan said in a research report. Although assets in the Democratic Republic of the Congo account for about 14%, 25% and 100% of forecast 2026 copper output for MMG (01208.HK), ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) and CMOC (03993.HK), respectively, the actual policy impact should be limited because the ban targets exports of copper concentrate, while the major assets of these companies in the Democratic Republic of the Congo all have integrated smelting capacity, with main products being blister copper, anode copper and cathode copper rather than concentrates. The broker upheld a positive view on copper miners, believing that potential US tariffs are a stronger driver for share prices. It maintained ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) as its top pick with an Overweight rating and a TP of HKD50; CMOC (03993.HK) and MMG (01208.HK) were both rated Overweight with TPs of HKD25 and HKD13, respectively. ~ AASTOCKS Financial News Website: www.aastocks.com | |
