This morning (7th), the HSI opened down 3 points before reversing higher during the morning session. By midday, it settled at 25,567, up 37 points or 0.15%, with market turnover at HKD141.185 billion. The HSTECH concluded at 4,837, up 16 points or 0.34%. The HSCEI ended at 8,503, up 5 points or 0.06%.

Following DeepSeek's announcement of price increases and reports that Alibaba's next-generation AI large model plans to charge commercial users, Mainland China's large-model industry may be moving away from low-price strategies. Two AI model stocks advanced strongly, with Z.AI (02513.HK) surging 17.57% and MINIMAX-W (00100.HK) swelling 17.7%.

The CCL (copper clad laminate)/PCB (printed circuit board) sector tracked gains among A-share peers. KB LAMINATES (01888.HK) jumped up nearly 10%, while KINGBOARD HLDG (00148.HK) mounted 5.37%, CFMEE (09630.HK) rallied 10.85%, VGT (02476.HK) climbed 11.43%, and HANS CNC (03200.HK) escalated 8.49%.

Among techs, TENCENT (00700.HK), BABA-W (09988.HK), XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK) and BIDU-SW (09888.HK) each lost less than 1%. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) and NTES (09999.HK) each added more than 1%.
