US Stock Futures Edge Up; SpaceX Up 1.4% Pre-Market; French, German and Spanish Stocks Hit Record Highs; HSBC Down ~2% in UK

Hopes for easing tensions in Iran shored up futures for the three major US stock indices slightly. DJIA futures last went up 53 pts or 0.1%, while S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures rose 0.1% and 0.6%, respectively.

Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SPCX.US) added 1.4% in pre-market trading. The company will announce its first quarterly results since listing after the US market closes on Tuesday local time. Analysts expected SpaceX's operating revenue for 2Q26 to range between USD6.7 billion and USD6.9 billion, representing substantial growth from USD4.69 billion in the previous quarter. The market broadly expected a net LPS of between USD0.26 and USD0.29.

Several major European stock markets hit record highs today (4th). The STOXX Europe 600 reached an intraday record high of 656.85 and last reported at 655.13, up nearly 0.5%. The UK's FTSE 100 was last at 10,883, up 26 pts or 0.2%. France's CAC hit an intraday record high of 8,669 and was last at 8,618, edging up 4 pts or less than 0.1%. Germany's DAX reached an intraday record high of 26,266 and was last at 26,146, up 145 pts or nearly 0.6%. Italy's FTSE MIB was last at 53,436, up 564 pts or 1.1%. Spain's IBEX 35 broke above the 20,000-mark for the first time, reaching an intraday record high of 20,037, and was last at 19,977, down slightly by 5 pts.

HSBC (HSBA.L) dipped 1.9% in UK trading to GBX1,567.08. HSBC HOLDINGS reported at noon that its reported profit before tax for 2Q soared 60% YoY, beating market expectations. The bank declared a second DPS of USD0.10 and planned to resume share buybacks of up to USD1 billion. Citi said HSBC's 2Q results were mixed.
