The HSTECH closed at 4,499, up 44.72 pts or 1%, while the HSCEI closed at 7,699, up 87 pts or 1.15%. Major techs were in a mixed bag. TENCENT (00700.HK) edged up 0.23%; BABA-W (09988.HK) dipped 0.42%; MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and JD-SW (09618.HK) rose more than 1%. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) opened 6.2% higher before retreating to close down 0.09%. Its Kling AI unit secured capital injections of more than RMB20.4 billion from investors including Alibaba and Tencent. US new non-farm payroll in June came in far below expectations, relieving market concerns over interest rate hikes. Rebounding gold prices lifted Hong Kong-listed gold and precious metal stocks. ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) leapfrogged 9.01%, becoming the best-performing blue chip of the day; ZIJIN GOLD INTL (02259.HK) soared 14%; SD GOLD (01787.HK) rallied 11.06%; ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK) ballooned 10.24%; CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) shot up 5.05%; LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK) jumped up 16.21%; CMOC (03993.HK) advanced 7.07%; CHALCO (02600.HK) climbed 4.48%; and CHINAHONGQIAO (01378.HK) escalated 4.4%. Among blue chips, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) hit a record high and closed at HKD152, up 1.67%, while LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) came under pressure, diving 3.27%. Pharmaceuticals had a good run. HANSOH PHARMA (03692.HK) surged 7.6%, while CSPC PHARMA (01093.HK) and JD HEALTH (06618.HK) spiked more than 5%. Auto stocks also mushroomed, with GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) up 5.66% and BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) up 7.41%. ~ | |
