HSI Opens Down 18 pts; BIDU-SW Surges ~6%; Gold Miners Subdued

US stocks stabilized overnight (29th), with the DJIA hitting a record high and breaking above 52,000 for the first time, while the Nasdaq soared 2.07% at close.

The HSI opened at 23,007 on June 30, down 18 pts or 0.08%. The HSTECH opened at 4,416, up 23 pts or 0.54%. The HSCEI opened at 7,599, down 6 pts or 0.08%.

Major techs were mixed. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) surged another 5.85%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) rose 1.26%. NTES-S (09999.HK) gained 0.702%. TENCENT (00700.HK) edged up 0.24%. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) inched up 0.09%.

Among blue chips, TRIP.COM-S (09961.HK) ebbed back 2.48%, while GALAXY ENT (00027.HK) added 1.95% and SUNNY OPTICAL (02382.HK) hiked 1.52%. LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) opened 1.03% higher.

Spot gold sank below USD4,000 again. ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) shed 2.46%, SD GOLD (01787.HK) dived 3.04%, ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK) cratered 4.07%, and LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK) slumped 5.16%.
