CATL Envisions At Least 10,000 EVs to Be Equipped with Its Sodium-Ion Batteries This Yr
2026-06-24 17:22:26 CATL (03750.HK) Chief Manufacturing Officer Ni Jun said in an interview with Bloomberg Television at the World Economic Forum in Dalian on Wednesday (24th) that the company has developed sodium batteries capable of operating in low-temperature environments of minus 20 to minus 30 degrees Celsius, stating that they have introduced an innovative design that can operate under such extreme conditions. He added that the company is enlarging investment in sodium batteries and expects between 10,000 and 20,000 electric vehicles (EVs) to be equipped with its sodium-ion batteries this year. CATL also launched a sodium battery energy storage system (ESS) this week, which is expected to make its first delivery in China in September and begin global deliveries from June 2027.
