UBS: CN Internet Sector to Remain Volatile in Short Term; Top Picks BABA-W/ TENCENT/ JD-SW/ NTES-S
2026-06-18 16:10:07
KraneShares CSI China Internet ETF (KWEB) has corrected by 18% year to date, mainly due to soft macro conditions, heightened AI investment, and AI disruption in certain verticals such as online music, UBS said in a research report. The broker viewed the China internet sector will remain volatile in the short term.

However, UBS noted that signs of market stabilization have gradually emerged. The sector is trading at only 12x 2026E PE. In addition, secondary home prices in Tier-1 mainland cities are showing signs of bottoming out, investors are placing greater emphasis on returns from non-AI investments, and AI monetization scenarios have expanded from chatbots to productivity applications.

UBS favored companies with strong balance sheets, extensive ecosystems, and AI monetization capabilities, including BABA-W (09988.HK), TENCENT (00700.HK), BIDU-SW (09888.HK), as well as non-direct AI plays such as JD-SW (09618.HK), NTES-S (09999.HK), and JOYY Inc. (JOYY.US).
