2026-06-11 09:28:36 Overnight (10th), war in the Middle East rekindled, while overall US inflation for May climbed to a three-year high, weighing down US stocks sharply. The DJIA sank below the 50,000 mark and closed at 49,918, down 953 points. The S&P 500 declined 1.62%, and the Nasdaq slid 1.98%. This morning (11th), the HSI opened at 24,380, down 27 points or 0.11%. The HSTECH opened at 4,715, down 9 points or 0.2%. The HSCEI opened at 8,312, down 6 points or 0.07%. Major techs traded mixed. TENCENT (00700.HK) opened 0.9% higher. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) faded 0.25%. BABA-W (09988.HK) fell 1.06%. Among blue chips, AIA (01299.HK) rebounded, opening up 1.57%, while HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) dropped another 0.52%. Amid escalating Middle East tensions, CNOOC (00883.HK) and PETROCHINA (00857.HK) jumped up 2.6% and 1.77%, respectively. Gold futures fell below the USD4,200 level.
