HK Police, ICAC Charge 7 Individuals, 2 Companies over Wang Fuk Court Fire, Involving 25 Offences Incl. Manslaughter, Money Laundering
2026-06-10 14:52:09 A joint investigation team formed by the Police and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) over the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po has, after in-depth investigation and seeking legal advice from the Department of Justice, formally charged seven individuals and two companies today (10th) with a total of 25 offences. The charges include manslaughter, conspiracy to defraud, money laundering, attempting to pervert the course of justice, and tax evasion. The two cases were mentioned at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts this afternoon. The seven charged individuals played different roles during the major maintenance works at Wang Fuk Court, including directors of the project consultancy firm and registered inspectors engaged by the firm, as well as directors of the main contractor.
