BYD: Hungary Plant to Begin Production in 4Q; Turkey Plant Project Suspended
2026-06-10 14:23:06
Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD COMPANY (01211.HK), said the Hungary project is currently the company’s top priority, according to foreign media reports.

The company’s new plant in Hungary will commence complete vehicle assembly production in 4Q26, and the next phase of focus will be to identify a second complete vehicle manufacturing base in Europe.

In addition, BYD announced in 2024 that it planned to invest USD1 billion to build a new factory in Turkey, which was originally scheduled to start production this year.

Yet, in order to concentrate resources on advancing localized vehicle manufacturing in Europe, the company has suspended the Turkey plant project, Li pointed out.

Construction of the Turkey factory has not yet commenced and the project is currently on hold, with no confirmed timetable for groundbreaking or production start.
