HSI Slips Below 25,000 in Early Session on Futures Settlement Day, Hits ~2Mths Low; MEITUAN-W Dives 5%
2026-05-28 09:50:28 US bourse struggled to hold sturdy overnight (27th), with all three major indices hitting record closing highs, as the market continued to monitor US-Iran negotiations. On Hong Kong index futures settlement day, the HSI extended its decline from the past two trading days. It opened at 25,230 this morning (28th), down 97 points or 0.39%. Losses widened in early trading, with the index sinking below the 25,000 mark to last report at 24,994, marking a near two-month low since early April, down 333 points or 1.3%, with turnover of HKD57.709 billion. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) was last at HKD73.65, down 5.21%, the worst performer among blue chips, with turnover of HKD1.452 billion. Among WuXi-related blue chips, WUXI BIO (02269.HK) and WUXI APPTEC (02359.HK) sagged more than 3%. Resource stocks ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) and CMOC (03993.HK) lost over 3%. Heavyweights AIA (01299.HK), TENCENT (00700.HK) and BABA-W (09988.HK) slid more than 2%.
