CN MOC Holds Roundtable with Foreign-funded Pharmas
2026-05-26 11:30:51 Ling Ji, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative, chaired a roundtable meeting with foreign-funded pharmaceutical enterprises last Friday (22nd). Representatives from more than 50 foreign companies attended the meeting, including Sanofi (SNY.US), Novartis AG (NVS.US), Merck & Company, Inc. (MRK.US), Becton, Dickinson and Company (BDX.US), Gilead Sciences, Inc. (GILD.US), Eli Lilly and Company (LLY.US) and Danaher Corporation (DHR.US). Relevant departments from the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Health Commission, the National Healthcare Security Administration and the National Medical Products Administration also participated and conducted on-site exchanges with the enterprises. Ling stated that the "15th Five-Year Plan" period will be a critical stage for advancing the Healthy China initiative. China's pharmaceutical industry has a well-established innovation ecosystem and the world's largest healthcare service system, which will create significant opportunities for multinational pharmaceutical companies to achieve long-term development in China. The Chinese government adheres to a people-centered approach, continuously improves the quality of medical products and services, enhances pricing formation mechanisms and regulatory systems, expands opening-up in relevant sectors, and protects the national treatment rights of foreign-funded enterprises in accordance with the law.
