Iran Reportedly Tightens Grip around Hormuz; 2 Mideast Countries Reach Energy Transport Deals with Iran
2026-05-13 09:55:35
More than a month after a ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran took effect, the two sides have yet to make any progress toward ending the war.

Iran appears to be tightening its control over the Strait of Hormuz and has reached agreements with Iraq and Pakistan to transport oil and LNG from the region, Reuters reported, quoting people with the knowledge of the matter.

Other countries are also said to be exploring similar arrangements, a move that could enable Iran to further consolidate and sustain its control over Hormuz.

As Iran's war costs continue to climb, US President Donald Trump said that the economic difficulties faced by Americans would not affect his stance on the war with Iran.

He stressed that he would not take the US economic situation into account, nor consider anyone else's views, and that his sole concern is preventing Iran from possessing nuclear weapons.
