HSI Opens Up 22 pts; JD-SW Gains 3%+

US April inflation hit the highest level in nearly three years. The three major US indices closed mixed as the market focused on US President Donald Trump's upcoming three-day visit to China. The DJIA once dived about 400 points before stabilizing to close at 49,760, up 56 points. The Nasdaq was dented by chip stocks, closing at 26,088, down 185 points or 0.7%, while the S&P 500 closed at 7,400, down 11 points or 0.2%.

Hong Kong stocks opened higher today. The HSI opened up 22 points or 0.08% at 26,369; the HSCEI opened down 4 points or 0.05% at 8,877; the HSTECH opened down 15 points or 0.3% at 5,055.

JD-SW (09618.HK) reported its 1Q26 results, with non-GAAP net profit sagging 42% YoY to RMB7.38 billion, beating expectations. The stock opened up 3.63% at HKD122.7. JD LOGISTICS (02618.HK) posted a 40% YoY increase in 1Q26 non-IFRS profit to RMB1.05 billion and proposed a share buyback of up to USD1.2 billion. Its shares opened up 7.01% at HKD16.03. JD HEALTH (06618.HK) recorded a 6% increase in 1Q26 net profit and proposed a share buyback of up to USD1 billion. The stock opened up 3.43% at HKD47.

POP MART (09992.HK) forecast 1Q26 overall revenue growth of 75-80%, with its shares opening up 3.87% at HKD169.2. TENCENT (00700.HK) and BABA-W (09988.HK) will announce quarterly results today, with their shares opening down 0.26% and 0.98%, respectively.

TME-SW (01698.HK) reported a 51.3% YoY drop in 1Q26 non-IFRS net profit, while EPS beat expectations. Its shares opened down 1.49%. Market sources said YUM CHINA (09987.HK) and others are bidding for KFC and Pizza Hut chains in Hong Kong and Taiwan owned by Jardine-related entities, with its shares opening up nearly 1%.
