CN Cyber Watchdog: 12 Platforms Recently Take Lead in Fully Launching Standardized Short Video Content Labeling, Striving for Notable Results Before Yr-End

The head of the CAC Bureau of Internet Comprehensive Governance stated that it is necessary to unify labeling standards and clarify labeling requirements across the entire industry, as the lack of standardized short video content labeling is not conducive to content creation and publication, and also affects content quality and user experience. Since January this year, the CAC has guided 12 platforms including Douyin, KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK), TENCENT (00700.HK), Xiaohongshu, BILIBILI-W (09626.HK), WB-SW (09898.HK), Taobao, JD-SW (09618.HK), PDD Holdings Inc. (PDD.US), Alipay, MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and BIDU-SW (09888.HK) to take the lead in piloting optimization and effectiveness assessment of short video content labeling functions, the official said. Meanwhile, provincial-level cyberspace authorities have concurrently guided other local websites and platforms to prepare for related work. Recently, the 12 platforms have taken the lead in aligning industry efforts and fully launching standardized short video content labeling initiatives.
