Air ticket and hotel bookings for China's 2026 Labor Day holiday have entered the peak period, according to data from Chinese travel platform Qunar.

Because of rising airfares, among others, traveling by car has become a favored option among travelers. Destinations within a five-hour drive from provincial capitals recorded notable growth in bookings for the Labor Day holiday. Specifically, hotel bookings in popular tier-3 and lower-tier cities doubled YoY.
