NBS: As 'AI+' Accelerates Expansion w/ Rapid Growth in Computing Power Demand, CN Mar Optical Fiber Mfg Prices Soar 76.1% YoY
2026-04-10 10:06:19 Dong Lijuan, Chief Statistician of the Urban Department at the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), interpreted the PPI data for March 2026 saying that China's PPI turned to an incline of 0.5% YoY from a decline of 0.9% in the previous month, marking the first gain after 41 consecutive months of fall. Supply and demand conditions in certain industries improved in China, leading to price hikes, Dong added. With continued optimization of market competition order, prices of photovoltaic equipment & components manufacturing/ lithium-ion battery manufacturing rose by 5.2%/ 2.5% YoY each. As new growth drivers strengthened, 'AI+' accelerated expansion and computing power demand grew rapidly, optical fiber manufacturing prices soared by 76.1% YoY, while prices of external storage equipment and components spiked by 21.1% YoY.
