CPCA: China's NEV Retail Sales Drop 17% YoY, Rise 66% MoM in First Three Weeks of March

The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) released data showing that from March 1 to 22, the national passenger car market retail sales reached 920,000 units, representing a year-on-year decrease of 16% and a month-on-month increase of 19%. Year-to-date cumulative retail sales amounted to 3.498 million units, down 18% year-on-year. National passenger car manufacturers' wholesale volume was 1.084 million units, down 14% year-on-year and up 62% month-on-month, with a year-to-date cumulative wholesale of 4.578 million units, down 11% year-on-year.

During the period, the national passenger car new energy vehicle (NEV) market retail sales were 495,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 17% and a month-on-month increase of 66%, with a retail penetration rate of 53.9%. Year-to-date cumulative retail sales were 1.556 million units, down 23% year-on-year. National passenger car manufacturers' NEV wholesale volume was 543,000 units, down 15% year-on-year and up 71% month-on-month, with a wholesale penetration rate of 50.1%.
