HSI Opens 55 Pts Lower; NTES-S, BUD APAC Decline; WUXI BIO Soars

The U.S. January non-farm payrolls were well above expectations, with the unemployment rate dropping to 4.3% unexpectedly, cooling market expectations for a rate cut by the Federal Reserve. The DJIA closed down 66 points or 0.13% on Wednesday (11th). The Hong Kong stock market opened weakly, with the HSI opening 55 points or 0.2% lower at 27,210; the HSCEI opening 17 points or 0.2% lower at 9,250; and the HSTECH opening 25 points or 0.5% lower at 5,474.

In the tech sector, MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) opened 2.5% lower, making it the worst-performing blue-chip stock. BABA-W (09988.HK) continued efforts in Taobao Instant Commerce, not worrying about losses for three years, with its stock opening 1.4% lower. TENCENT (00700.HK) opened 2% lower. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) each opened 2% and 1% lower, respectively.

JD-SW (09618.HK) and SENSETIME-W (00020.HK) opened 0.1% and 0.8% higher, respectively. NTES-S (09999.HK) reported last quarter's net profit and non-GAAP net profit below expectations, with its stock opening 1.4% lower. KNOWLEDGE ATLAS (02513.HK) launched the new flagship model GLM-5, with the GLM Coding Plan package seeing an overall price increase of at least 30%, and its stock opened 8.8% higher. In the chip sector, SMIC (00981.HK) opened 1.1% higher.

BUD APAC (01876.HK) logged a 32.6% downfall in last year's net profit to USD489 million, with the final DPS maintained at US5.66 cents, and its stock opened 2.1% lower. As for WUXI BIO (02269.HK), it opened 2.7% higher, making it the best-performing blue-chip stock. ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) also opened 2.5% higher.
