2026-02-06 12:14:40 MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) announced the acquisition of online grocery retailer Dingdong's China business for an initial consideration of USD717 million (adjustable), according to Citi's research report. Citi considers this move strategically significant, given that it aims to expand MEITUAN-W's frontline warehouse coverage (especially in key regions such as East China) to complement its Ella Supermarket business, strengthens the company's supply chain capabilities in fresh produce and private label products, and diversifies the consumer wallet share from takeout and dine-in to home cooking. While this acquisition may enhance MEITUAN-W's position in the fresh retail market, the overall fresh and grocery market landscape remains fragmented and intensely competitive. MEITUAN-W will continue to face challenges in its core local business and the requirements of substantial investment resources for its overseas expansion. Citi has given MEITUAN-W a target price of HKD115 and kept its rating as Neutral/ High Risk. ~ AAStocks Financial News Web Site: www.aastocks.com | |
