During the Christmas holiday period, there are rumors that Chinese authorities requested travel agencies to reduce the number of tourists visiting Japan.

Travel OTA platforms were pressured upon market reopening today (29th). TONGCHENGTRAVEL (00780.HK) opened flat before declining, and last printed at $22.02 at the tail market, shedding 1.87%. Trading volume was 2.7937 million shares, involving $62.0311 million. Furthermore, TRIP.COM-S (09961.HK) slid 0.62% to $560, with a turnover of $513 million.

Three major Chinese airlines ascended by 0.8-2.5% at the tail market. CATHAY PAC AIR (00293.HK) cascaded 2.73% to $12.47 at the tail market, with a turnover of $60.4591 million.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's earlier erroneous remarks on Taiwan worsened Sino-Japanese relations. According to Kyodo News' report last Thursday (25th), industry insiders said that relevant Chinese authorities asked domestic travel agencies to reduce the number of visa applications for Japan, cutting the number of tourists traveling to Japan to 60% of previous levels.
