HSI Slips 109 Pts at Midday; Shippers Soften; Some CN Developers Stage Comeback

The HSI ended the midday down 109 points or 0.4% at 25,325. The HSCEI fell 45 points or 0.5% to 8,890. The HSTECH dropped 37 points or 0.7% to 5,516. The total market turnover at midday amounted to HKD95.743 billion.

In the tech sector, BABA-W (09988.HK) rose 0.6%. It is said to have established a Qianwen C-end business group with the primary goal of building Qianwen into a super app. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and BIDU-SW (09888.HK) rallied 1.2% and 0.8%. TENCENT (00700.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) dipped 0.8-1%. BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) lost 1.5% and 2%.

In addition, Q TECH (01478.HK), KINGSOFT CLOUD (03896.HK), PA GOODDOCTOR (01833.HK), and CHINA LIT (00772.HK) eroded 3.5-4.1%. NETEASE MUSIC (09899.HK) sank 5%. Chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) shed 2.1% and 1.3%.

Among carmakers, BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) slid 1.1%. LEAPMOTOR (09863.HK), NIO-SW (09866.HK), and XPENG-W (09868.HK) faded 2.3-2.8%. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) edged 0.2% higher. GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) gained 0.9% to HKD17.66. It plans to establish a syndicated loan of up to USD420 million for the ZEEKR (ZK.US) privatization.

Chinese developer AGILE GROUP (03383.HK) rebounded 1.6%. It received a winding-up petition involving USD18.59 million unpaid. Its peer CHINA JINMAO (00817.HK) soared 6%. R&F PROPERTIES (02777.HK) and SINO-OCEAN GP (03377.HK) also surged 3.2% and 1.9%.

As the Baltic Dry Index plunged to a near two-week low, OOIL (00316.HK) and PACIFIC BASIN (02343.HK) cratered 4.9% and 9.5%. SITC (01308.HK) and COSCO SHIP HOLD (01919.HK) lost 1.9-2.5%.
