Reported Disagreement Among HSBC HOLDINGS Board Over New Chairman Selection
2025-11-18 11:44:53
HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) announced in May 2025 that Mark Tucker would step down from his position as Group Chairman by the end of the year, following which the Nomination and Corporate Governance Committee of the Board immediately began the process of selecting a successor.

However, the HSBC board is now divided in the choice of the new chairman, which may lead to reconsideration of candidates previously rejected or who have declined, according to sources cited by the Financial Times.

Former UK Chancellor George Osborne, Goldman Sachs Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) President Kevin Sneader, former HSBC CEO Stuart Gulliver, and former Standard Chartered Vice Chairman Naguib Kheraj are all considered candidates for HSBC's new chairman succession, recent foreign media reported.
