A-shrs Stabilize After Midday, Narrowing HSI's Losses to <600 Pts; XIAOMI Plunges 7%; Heavy-weighting Financials, Techs, Hardwares, WUXI Series Subtract

However, the index, supported by A-shares' stabilization at low levels, significantly narrowed its losses, and last printed at 25,714, down 575 points or 2.2%, with a turnover of $390.806 billion. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) bottomed at $47.5 after midday, and last descended 7.24% to $48.28, making it the worst-performing blue chip, with turnover surging to $19.223 billion. Reports indicate that a XIAOMI-W car caught fire after an accident in Chengdu early Monday morning. Sino-US trade relations are becoming tense, with two major blue chips in WUXI series, naming WUXI BIO (02269.HK) and WUXI APPTEC (02359.HK), each eroding 5.4-6.5%. Heavy-weighting financials dragged the market down, with HKEX (00388.HK), CHINA LIFE (02628.HK), PING AN (02318.HK) and AIA (01299.HK) sagging over 3%. Heavy-weighting techs were under pressure, with JD-SW (09618.HK), KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) and NEW ORIENTAL-S (09901.HK) slumping over 4%. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) waned over 3%, while BABA-W (09988.HK) and MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) lost over 2%. Two major casinos SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK) and GALAXY ENT (00027.HK) shrank 5.8% and 2.7% respectively. Tech hardware stocks also declined, with SUNNY OPTICAL (02382.HK) plunging 6.5%. BYD ELECTRONIC (00285.HK) dived 5.3%, while LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) cratered 4.4%. Exporters TECHTRONIC IND (00669.HK) and SHENZHOU INTL (02313.HK) shed 3.3% and 1.3%. SMIC (00981.HK) rose against the market by 2.4% to $79.4, making it the best-performing blue chip.
