Lo Chung-mau on Lawmaker's Proposal of Allowing Doctors to Prescribe Medication for Patients to Buy in Mainland: Non-Compliant with Regulations
2025-09-19 15:33:24 The LegCo discussed healthcare measures in the Policy Address today (19th). During the discussion, Election Committee lawmaker Peter Douglas Koon Ho-ming mentioned that medicine in Hong Kong is more expensive than in neighboring regions, suggesting the government set up a cross-border information platform, or allow doctors to issue prescriptions, so patients could purchase medicine in mainland China. Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau responded that the systems are different, and the proposal doesn't comply with the law in terms of both medical standards and customs regulations. However, he said the government could use prices in mainland China as a reference point in price negotiations. ~ AAStocks Financial News Web Site: www.aastocks.com |
