HSI Opens 44 Pts Lower; BIDU-SW Balloons 3%+; Chips Stretch Upswings

The HSI opened 44 points or 0.17% lower at 26,863. The HSCEI dropped 22 points or 0.2% to 9,574. The HSTECH grew less than 1 point to 6,334.

In the tech sector, BIDU-SW (09888.HK) opened up 3.1% at HKD135. BABA-W (09988.HK) and TENCENT (00700.HK) added 0.3% and 0.1%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), and NTES-S (09999.HK) dipped 0.3-0.6%. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) slipped 1%. Chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) rallied 1.3% and 2.7%.

Q TECH (01478.HK) opened flat at HKD14.2. The sale of its 51.08% stake in Q Tech India is expected to generate a gain of over RMB833 million. WEIMOB INC (02013.HK) aims to raise over HKD1.5 billion through an 8.9% discounted share placement to Infini Capital. Its stock price leaped 1.2% to HKD2.51. TRIP.COM-S (09961.HK) lost 1%. The Zhengzhou Market Supervision Bureau summoned the company over business practice regulations.

Among car makers, BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) opened intact at HKD112.8. LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) and XPENG-W (09868.HK) faded 1% and 1.1%. NIO-SW (09866.HK) climbed 1.6%.
