Travel Industry Council Foresees 800K+ CN Visitors to HK during May Day Golden Week, Up 6%+ YoY
2025-04-24 15:03:31 The Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong stated that over 800,000 mainland Chinese tourists are expected to visit Hong Kong during the May Day Golden Week, reflecting a YoY upswing of over 6%. Fanny Yeung, Executive Director of the Council, noted that hotel occupancy rates in Hong Kong are estimated to average nearly 90% during the holiday, with room rates similar to last year. Earlier this month, the Council had held a cross-departmental meeting with industry and government representatives to establish a joint command center to monitor crowd flows at border checkpoints and attractions, coordinating as needed. Regarding inbound tour groups, around 600 groups are anticipated during the May Day period, representing a 10% elevation from last year.
