HSI Opens Up 155 Pts; BABA-W Leaps 3%+; NIO-SW Tumbles 6%

The HSI opened up 155 points or 0.6% at 26,188. The HSCEI rose 51 points or 0.6% to 9,224. The HSTECH climbed 42 points or 0.8% to 5,687.

In the tech sector, BABA-W (09988.HK) opened 3.4% higher, making it the best-performing blue chip. It granted 6.1158 million incentive shares under its 2024 scheme. TENCENT (00700.HK) added nearly 1%. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) soared 3.1%. It has released the Kling AI-powered Kling O1. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) grew 0.7% and 1.8%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) dipped 0.05%. Chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) dropped 0.1% and 0.9%.

Among carmakers, XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) edged up 0.6% at open. GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) went up 0.3%. It sold a total of 310,400 cars in November, up 24% YoY. BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) ballooned 1.1%, though its November new energy vehicle sales fell 5.3% YoY to 480,000 units. LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) faded 0.6%. It delivered 33,200 new cars in November. XPENG-W (09868.HK) eroded 1.6%. It delivered 36,700 cars in November, up 19% YoY. NIO-SW (09866.HK) sank 6.2%. Its November deliveries reached 36,300 vehicles, up 76.3% YoY but down 10.2% MoM.

As for financial stocks, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) opened flat at HKD110.5. HKEX (00388.HK) inched up 0.2%. AIA (01299.HK) escalated 1.1%.
