Commercial banks in the Mainland achieved a cumulative net profit of RMB1.9 trillion in the first three quarters of 2025. As of the end of the third quarter of 2025, the average return on capital was 8.18%, and the average return on assets was 0.63%. By the end of the third quarter of 2025, the balance of non-performing loans (NPLs) for commercial banks was RMB3.5 trillion, up RMB88.3 billion from the end of the previous quarter, data showed.
